Warangal Doctor Succumbs to Injuries 8 Days After Brutal Attack

Hyderabad: A doctor in Warangal district tragically succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning, eight days after being allegedly brutally assaulted by his wife’s lover and accomplices.

The gruesome attack took place on February 20 on Battupalli Road. According to officials, the assailants deliberately struck the rear of the doctor’s car, forcing him to stop and step out to inspect the damage. As he stepped out to inspect the damage, they repeatedly struck his head with a hammer before fleeing, believing him to be dead.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in yet another shocking instance of violence against medical professionals, a doctor on his way to Ursu was allegedly brutally assaulted by two unidentified assailants. The assailants reportedly struck him with an iron rod, leaving him with severe injuries.

According to news reports, passersby rushed the severely injured doctor to MGM Hospital in Warangal before he was transferred to Hyderabad for further treatment. Due to his critical condition, he was brought back to Warangal, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning, officials said.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged by the doctor’s father. The police swiftly launched an investigation and identified the accused through CCTV footage. On Thursday, police arrested the doctor’s wife, her lover, and their accomplice while they were attempting to sell stolen gold from the victim’s house.

The doctor, a resident of Vasavi Colony, had married in 2016. The couple later moved to Sangareddy in 2018, where his wife worked as a teacher while he served as a contract medical officer at a Primary Health Centre. During this time, the wife allegedly began an extramarital affair with a gym trainer. After the doctor discovered the affair, they returned to Warangal in 2019. However, his wife continued her relationship with the gym trainer and frequently invited him to their home when her husband was away.

As per the recent media report by Etv Bharat, it is suspected that to eliminate her husband, Flora and Samuel hatched a murder plot, and she allegedly transferred Rs 1 lakh to Samuel, who then paid Rs 50,000 to Rajkumar, an AR constable in Cyberabad, to carry out the murder. On February 20, the duo entrapped Sumanth while he was returning home from the hospital located in Kazipet, officials said.

State Drug Alert: 93 Drug samples including Glenmark’s TELMA AM, Alkem Health Science’s Ondem-4 fail To Qualify CDSCO Test

New Delhi: In line with the ‘Not of Standard Quality’ data provided by states, the apex drug regulatory body, the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), in its latest drug safety alert, has flagged 93 medicine batches for failing to qualify for a random sample test for January 2025.

The list of drugs declared not of standard quality includes Aceclofenac and Drotaverine Hydrochloride Tablets (100 mg/80 mg) manufactured by Regent Ajanta Biotech, Compound Sodium Lactate Injection I.P (Ringer’s Lactate I.P) manufactured by Paschim Banga Pharmaceuticals, Paracetamol, Cetirizine Hydrochloride & Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Tablets (WINCOLDZ) manufactured by Wings Biotech, BETAHISTINE DIHYDROCHLORIDE tablets IP (Betahox8) manufactured by Jackson Laboratories and others.

In addition, popular medicines such as TELMA AM manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Ondem-4 [Ondansetron Tablets IP] manufactured by Alkem Health Science are on the list of Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) drugs.

The alert stated that, as part of the continuous regulatory surveillance, drug samples are picked from sales/distribution points, analyzed, and lists of Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) drugs are displayed on the CDSCO portal on a monthly basis.

“The purpose of displaying the NSQ list is to make stakeholders aware about the NSQ batches identified in the market.” the alert added.

The drugs that fail to meet the quality standards or specifications are known as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) drugs. Further, the term ‘standards of quality’ is defined under the Section 16 (1) (a) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, that the ‘standards of quality’ mean that the drug complies with the standards set out in the Second Schedule of the said Act.

Furthermore, the alert mentioned that NSQ data was received as per format and in an Excel sheet from the state drug licensing authorities of Jammu and Kashmir, Chennai, West Bengal, Puducherry, Telangana, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), and Bangalore. Further NSQ data was received from Tripura, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh as NIL. However, data was not received as per format in Excel Sheet from Jharkhand (PDF Format), Delhi (PDF Format), Goa (PDF Format), and Maharashtra (PDF Format) for the Month of January 2025 as per DCG (I) Circular dated 09.02.2024.

In addition, the alert noted that State Drugs Licensing Authorities of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar and Nagar Haveli; Daman and Diu; and Lakshadweep have not submitted any data in respect of the Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) Alert for the Month of January, 2025 as per DCG (I) Circular dated 09.02.2024.

Dehradun horror: MBBS student, wife arrested for Kidnapping, murdering 70-year-old man in Extortion Bid

Dehradun: In a shocking turn of events, a fourth-year MBBS student and his wife have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a 70-year-old retired man in a desperate attempt to extort money for medical college fees. Facing financial constraints and fearing an inability to complete his studies, the student, along with his wife, hatched a plan to blackmail the elderly man. However, when their scheme failed, they allegedly strangled him to death.

To destroy the evidence, the accused couple took the help of their two relatives and allegedly dismembered the elderly man’s body into several pieces, packed the remains in plastic bags and dumped it in a canal in Saharanpur’s Badgaon area. The chilling crime came to light after police found the dismembered remains of the man on February 20, two weeks after he went missing.

The accused, who had been on the run since the murder, had a bounty of Rs. 25,000 each on their heads. They were recently arrested by Dehradun Police in Amritsar after an extensive manhunt across multiple cities, including Mumbai, Jaipur, and Prayagraj.

According to the police, the accused medical student, pursuing MBBS from a private institute in Dehradun. However, he was unable to bear the fees of the private institution and was in fear that he may not be able to complete the course on time. On top of that, he was burdened with hefty fees. As a result, the student was in need of money to complete his education.

At that point, his wife, who was familiar with his issues, suggested to kidnap the elderly man. It is reported that his wife in the past had an affair with the elderly man. Therefore, she was aware of his financial condition. Thinking of it as a quick and easy way to extort money, the couple allegedly kidnapped the elderly man with the intent to record an obscene video of him and later blackmail him to extort money, however, when their plan failed, the couple strangled the man to death in fear of getting exposed.

The incident dates back to February 7 when the daughter of the man filed a missing complaint at the police station regarding his father’s disappearance. She claimed that his father had left home on his bike and never returned.

Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and found out about the man’s relationship with the wife of the medical student. During the investigation, it was discovered that the elderly man maintained an illicit relationship with the woman for the last 12 years, and therefore they shifted their focus to her.

The case made a breakthrough when police reviewed CCTV footage showing the elderly man visiting the woman’s house but not leaving. The suspicion grew stronger when the couple was missing as they went into hiding after the murder.

The police had earlier arrested two men, identified as the woman’s brother and brother-in-law, after evidence confirmed their involvement in disposing of the victim’s remains in the canal. To mislead investigators, they also abandoned the deceased’s bike in a secluded plot near Dehradun ISBT, removing its number plate, reports ETV Bharat

Explaining the incident in more detail, a police officer told TOI, “It all started a few years ago when *** was living separately in Dehradun, away from her first husband. Their three-year-old daughter was with her. ***was in a relationship with the elderly man when she met the medical student. The two got married at a temple in May last year.”

“As the student needed money to complete his MBBS course, *** told him about her past affair with the elderly man, following which the couple hatched a plan to extort money from the teacher. The money, they decided, would fund his studies. Life would be easy after he became a doctor. As per the plan, *** invited the man to a rented accommodation and the student was ready with a camera to shoot an intimate video,” the officer said.

“Along the way, though, the man got suspicious and insisted on cutting short the rendezvous. But the couple wouldn’t let him. After a brief skirmish, the couple overpowered him and in the heat of the moment strangled the old man. Being a medical student, he knew that after a day or two, the blood would clot and there would be no bleeding if the body was chopped or cut. *** then called her brother from Saharanpur to help the student dismember the body and dispose of the parts,” said SSP Singh.

After an extensive search operation, the police finally arrested the couple. During interrogation, she confessed to the police that when the elderly man arrived at the rented room on February 2, he realised their plan and began to shout. To prevent him from exposing them, the couple tied him up and, in a panic, strangled him to death.

Currently, the couple is in jail after they were produced before the court on Friday.
