Medical Dialogues had previously reported that the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has recently taken legal action against 12 individuals for illegally practicing medicine. Of these, eight practiced in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, while the remaining four were located in various districts. As part of the crackdown, FIRs have been registered at police stations nearest to the locations of these unauthorized healthcare facilities. The illegal practitioners were found in Vanasthalipuram, Dundigal, Bachupally, Sangareddy, and Banswada.

These findings underline the growing concern regarding the prevalence of fake and substandard medical practices, even in medium-sized towns. The recent incident took place in Jannaram Mandal, where a task force conducted surprise raids on local clinics.

According to Telangana Today, members of the Telangana Medical Council and Indian Medical Association’s task force conducted raids on the clinics and found that Takini Srinivas and Chetupalli Satynanna were practicing medicine without possessing the necessary qualifications and reportedly prescribing medicines to patients, leading to the death of some persons.

The raids uncovered evidence supporting these serious allegations, prompting the authorities to take immediate action. Following the discovery of these violations, the authorities immediately took action, arresting the two practitioners and handing them over to the Jannaram police for further investigation.

The Telangana Medical Council’s ongoing efforts to identify and eliminate quack doctors demonstrate its broader commitment to patient safety and upholding medical standards. Over the past year, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has filed 400 FIRs and issued notices to 40 doctors suspected of supporting illegal practitioners.
